Attendance
One of the key indicators of student success is having good attendance.  Here are some tips that were shared during Summer Registration:

1)  Develop a daily schedule and stick to it
2)  Encourage and help your child prepare for school each evening
3)  Inform the Attendance Office immediately if there are any matters that arise that may affect the attendance of your child

Student Involvement
Providing an environment that allows students to belong to a part of the school is crucial.  We are very fortunate to have a wide variety of clubs on campus under ASB (Associated Student Body).  The following clubs were on site last year: ASB, Art, Go To College (G2C) and Movie Club. Please inquire with Ms. Polk if you are interested in additional information about club participation.  Students may also participate in the BRIDGE Theater, Karate, the Movement, and Think Together programs. We will be sharing more information about these programs in the future.

Parent Participation
Studies have shown that parent involvement is one of the keys to a student’s success in school.  At LMS, we have a variety of ways our parents can support their child's academic growth. Some of the opportunities include:  School Site Council (SSC), English Learner Advisory Council (ELAC), Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS). Additionally, we have our Coffee with the Principal sessions on a monthly basis.  If you are interested, please contact Ms. Lydia Gomez (Community Liaison) at 310-603-1466. Finally, on Thursday, September 12th (5-7 PM), we will have our annual Back-to-School Night.  It will be followed by a Minimum Day on Friday, September 13th with students being dismissed @ 12:30 PM.

Our staff is very excited about the year and look forward to what the future holds LMS.

Thank you for making LMS a special place for all!

Mr. Terry - Principal
