A group of 20 Lynwood Middle School students, dressed in matching blue science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) T-shirts, cut a ceremonial blue ribbon on Oct. 20 as nearly 100 community members cheered in celebration of the District’s new mobile STEAM classroom, a learning tool that aims to bring lessons to life.
Red Ribbon Week
Red ribbon week represent the nationwide commitment to raise drug awareness in schools. LMS will participate in " I pledge to be drug free" signing during lunch on Friday October 27th.
Hispanic Heritage Month
National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from September 15 - October 15. During this month the culture and history of people with ancestry from Spain, Mexico and the Spanish-speaking countries in the Americas is celebrated.

ASB Leads 7th Graders in Orientation
On Wednesday, August 8th and 9th, Ms. Polk and her ASB students facilitated this year's 7th grade orientation. Our in-coming students got an opportunity to participate in team-building activities led by the ASB kids. Students were also given a tour of the school to ensure they know where to go on the first day of school. It was a great opportunity to build our student's leadership skills and create a level of comfort for our 7th graders.
LMS MESA Team!
Congratulations once again to the Lynwood Middle School MESA Team! The team won first place, and also took second place in the MESA Arduino Robotics Challenge on Saturday, May 20, at the MESA final competitions and closing ceremonies for the school year. The event took place at the main campus of the University of California, Irvine. The team also placed second in the MESA Idol show your skills and talents event. Great Team. Suatained Effort. Excellent Job all year long. Go Tigers!!!

Congratulations once again to LMS MESA Team! The team took first place in the MESA Arduino Water Themed Project at the Junior Regional MESA Day competitions that took place on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at the University of California, Irvine. The team also placed third in the 7th grade Math Team Quest.
Women's History Month
March is National Women’s History Month. We celebrate the achievements of women, and womanhood. We honor the many women who have shaped our history, and also celebrate those who make progress in our time. We honor the historic achievements of courageous women who pioneered professional and social change through their fearless work. We remember the sacrifices our mothers, sisters, and daughters made to make us succeed. American women have led movements for social and economic justice, made groundbreaking scientific discoveries, enriched our culture with stunning works of art and literature, and charted bold directions in our foreign policy. They have served our country with valor in the battlefields. In this month of March, and every day, let us pause and salute our mothers, grandmothers, sisters, daughters, aunts and every woman everywhere.
Black History Month
February is Black History Month, and Black History is a huge part of the American History and Cultural Experience. We pause now and through the year to recognize and honor the achievements and contributions of Black Americans and Black American culture to American History and Culture. We celebrate various achievements made in the areas of Agriculture, Education, Civil Rights, Politics and Government, Military and National Security, Science and Technology, Aerospace Engineering, Sports, Music and Entertainment, Architecture, Medicine, and other aspects of life. The Black American Journey has been long and rough. Progress has been made over the years, but there is still more work to be done.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day
We celebrate the life and achievements of a great American and Civil Rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He had a dream of social change and full civil rights for all Americans. He led a nonviolent civil rights movement and successfully protested against racial discrimination in federal and state laws. He exhibited values of courage, truth, justice, compassion, dignity, humility and service. We honor his selfless acts that created a legacy of hope and healing in America.

Welcome New Administrators
Lynwood Middle School staff, students, parents and community members welcome new administrators for the 2016 - 2017 school year. Mr. John Terry is the new Principal, and Mr. Rafael Bernal is the new Assistant Principal. Both of them come with a wealth of experience in education to help our students succeed. Computer Science Education Week
The Hour of Code takes place each year during Computer Science Education Week. The 2016 Computer Science Education Week will be December 5-11.
Thanksgiving Day 2016 is Thursday, November 24. A day we set aside to hold feasts and celebrate and give thanks for our harvest of blessings, and the blessings of this great Country.
Friday, November 11, is Veterans Day 2016. We Honor and Thank all who served our Country in the United States Armed Forces to protect our Freedoms.
WEB Leaders and New Students Orientation
WEB is a program that assists LMS students to reach their full potential in becoming major contributors to their school. Students positively work to benefit the school to increase a sense of community, improve school spirit, and welcome in new students. WEB leaders recently welcomed 500 new 7th graders to LMS through a student-lead orientation wherein they played games, discussed academic strategies, and held campus tours to help all 7th graders feel accepted, comfortable, and excited to enter middle school!
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a chance to raise awareness about the disease, importance of early detection, raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, giagnosis, treatment and cure.
